Getting Started With Flipster

Search Options

What you Need

  • An Orangeville Public Library card to log in to Flipster
  • A computer, smartphone or tablet with an Internet connection - to read magazines in your browser
  • For magazines "On the Go"  - download the free Flipster app (for iPads and iPhones, Android Phones and Tablets, and Kindle Fire Tablets) to download and read magazines offline

Getting Started

  1. Click on the Flipster link on the library’s online catalogue or website, enter your 14 digit library card (no spaces) and browse available magazines. The online catalogue link may take you to a specific magazine. If you click on the Flipster icon on the upper left side it will take you to the main menu of magazines.
  2. Click on the title to open the magazine in your browser.
  3. Use the arrows to navigate. If you click on All Issues on the right hand side, you can search the magazine, look at specific pages or see back issues.

Use the Flipster app for offline viewing 

  1. To download the free Flipster app, search the iTunes app store or the Google Play Store for Flipster. 
  2. From the library's website open a magazine in your browser and tap the menu icon (three bars) in the upper left-hand corner.  
  3. Choose Open in App.
  4. If it is already installed, the app will open and your magazine selection will download.​
  5. Tap the cover to open the magazine. Swipe your finger to flip through the pages.

 

Frequently Asked Questions:

How many magazines can I borrow?

There is no limit to the number of magazines you can read or download.

Do I have to return magazines?

No. If you are reading a magazine on your computer, it will be returned once you close your browser. In your Flipster app, you can tap on the trash icon in the lower right-hand corner of each magazine cover to delete. 

Can I print from a magazine?

Yes, printing is available when reading a magazine on a computer. The print button is located on the right-hand menu when viewing a magazine on a computer. The available print options are determined by the publisher. 

Do I need a mobile app to view magazines on my mobile device?

No, with an Internet connection you can access Flipster and read magazines on your mobile device.
