Summer Reading BINGO

Why should kids have all the fun? Adults can play our summer reading BINGO for a chance to win prizes! Beginning July 2, pick up a card from either location of the library. Fill the appropriate squares as you read books all summer long - until the official end of summer on September 21. Every line completed gets a ballot to enter the draw!

How to play

  1. Pick up a BINGO card - one card per participant
  2. List the books you read on the back of your card and mark off the appropriate squares on the front. Only one book title per square (i.e. You can’t use the same title for multiple squares).
  3. Complete as many horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines as you can, throughout the summer.
  4. When you are ready to hand in your card, staff will provide you with ballots for the total number of BINGO lines completed.
  5. Want to go for the ultimate challenge? Complete the card! Read 24 titles to complete all 25 squares and get 5 bonus ballots.
  6. To be eligible for the draws, your BINGO card must be received by Sunday, September 21 at 4 p.m. The draw will be held the week of September 22.
You must be 18+ and have a valid Orangeville Public Library Card to win a prize.

100% Certainty Book Club

Program logo text The 100% Certainty Project Death: Something to Talk About A Community Initiative

Join Bethell Hospice and the Orangeville Public Library as we read and discuss books that explore themes of life, love and loss.  The next meeting is on Thursday, October 2, 7 p.m. at the Mill Library.

We will read and discuss The Measure by Nikki Erlick. The novel explores the consequences of knowing the length of one's life. A New York Times bestseller that has been translated into twenty-four languages.

Eight ordinary people. One extraordinary choice.

It seems like any other day. You wake up, drink a cup of coffee, and head out. But today, when you open your front door, waiting for you is a small wooden box. The contents of this mysterious box tells you the exact number of years you will live.

From suburban doorsteps to desert tents, every person on every continent receives the same box. In an instant, the world is thrust into a collective frenzy. Where did these boxes come from? What do they mean? Is there truth to what they promise?

As society comes together and pulls apart, everyone faces the same shocking choice: Do they wish to know how long they’ll live? And, if so, what will they do with that knowledge?

Enchanting and deeply uplifting, The Measure is an ambitious, invigorating story about family, friendship, hope, and destiny that encourages us to live life to the fullest.

Copies of the book are available to borrow. Please register in advance. (If the registration form is not available, please email [email protected] or call 519-941-0610).

Thursday, September 25, 7 p.m. - Mill Library - Raising Digital Citizens: Keeping Kids Safe Online & Smart on Social Media

In today’s world, growing up is inseparable from growing up online. From social media to gaming to endless access to content, the digital landscape presents both exciting opportunities and serious challenges for children and teens—and their parents.

“Raising Digital Citizens” is a practical and insightful presentation led by two experienced psychologists who specialize in child development, mental health, and family dynamics. This session is designed to support parents and caregivers in understanding how to guide their children through the digital world with confidence, clarity, and care.

You’ll learn:

  • How to talk with your child about online safety and digital boundaries
  • The impact of screen time and social media on brain development and mental health
  • Signs of unsafe online behavior—and how to respond
  • Strategies to foster digital resilience, responsibility, and critical thinking
  • How to model healthy tech habits as a family

This session will provide a balanced approach—not fear-based, but grounded in research, compassion, and real-world experience. Whether your child is just beginning to explore the online world or already immersed in social platforms, you’ll leave with practical tools and a deeper understanding of how to raise a responsible, informed digital citizen.

Let’s work together to keep our kids safe, smart, and supported in the digital age.

Registration will be available later in the summer. Watch the calendar and library newsletter for an update.
