
The Library offers a variety of free programs to help foster a love of literacy and lifelong learning for kids of all ages and families. Most programs are drop-in and are offered throughout the year on a seasonal basis in addition to special events.

Join Billie Jo Reid, outdoor and nature journal educator, for this hands on workshop. No artistic ability is required, just a love of nature and a sense of wonder and curiosity.
Sunday, August 9, 1 to 3 p.m., Mill Street Library and Mill Square Park - please register in advance.
Monday, August 17, 2:30 p.m. - This workshop is geared for children ages 5 to 12 to complete at home with the guidance of an adult as needed. Chicka-dee-dee-dee. Who was that? Play a game to discover nature sounds around us. Buzz your newly created bee around flowers to pollinate them. Investigate seeds and make a seed caterpillar that will grow over time. Be sure to have your Science Kit on hand for this virtual workshop hosted by Scientists in School.
Science kits will need to be picked up at either library location in advance. Participants will be notified when the kits are ready for pickup. Please note: a Laptop or internet accessible device and an internet connection are required to take part in this virtual workshop from home. Please register in advance. The participation link will be sent by library staff the week before the program.

After School Club |

Join the monthly After School Club for fun DIY activities, crafts, science experiments and games. This drop in program, for ages 7 to 12 years, takes place on the last Monday of the month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Mill Library. No registration is required. Every Child Ready to Read Babies |

An early literacy storytime that gives kids a jump-start to a love of reading. Interactive activities like talking, singing, reading and playing for babies up to eighteen months. Drop-in to this program on Wednesdays, September 9 to November 25, 1 to 1:30 p.m. at the Mill Library. The babies program is also offered at the Alder Street location on Fridays, September 11 to November 27, 10:30 to 11 a.m. No registration is required. Take part in songs, stories and rhymes for kids five and under. This fun, hands on program gives parents ideas and activities to help engage kids in reading and learning. Recommended for 5 and under. The program is also offered on Thursdays, September 10 to November 26, 10:30 to 11 a.m. in Storyland at the Mill Library. No registration is required.
