Your Orangeville Public Library card gives you access to more than books.

Ontario Parks Day-Use Permit and Vehicle Pass

In partnership with Ontario Parks, the library is lending Day-Use Permits for over 100 provincial parks where fees are normally charged. These permits will provide complimentary day-use access for one vehicle and its occupants. Popular nearby parks include Forks of the Credit, Earl Rowe, Mono Cliffs, Wasaga Beach, Bronte Creek, and Sibbald Point but also included are longer day-trip locations like Algonquin Park, Turkey Point, Sauble Falls and The Pinery. Permits can be placed on hold and are loaned out for a week at a time.

Advance Booking for Guaranteed Access to Certain Parks

Due to the heavy use of 17 parks, Ontario Parks is introducing advanced booking to guarantee your access to the park, Your spot can be reserved up to 5 days ahead of your visit.

  1. Borrow the Ontario Parks pass from the library.
  2. Continue to step 3 if the park you want to visit is in this list: Algonquin, Arrowhead, Batchawana Bay, Craigleith, Darlington, Forks of the Credit, Kakabeka Falls, Kettle Lakes, Lake Superior, Long Point, Mono Cliffs, North Beach, Presqu’ile, Pinery, Sandbanks, Sibbald Point, Turkey Point. If you are visiting any other park, advanced booking is not available at this time.
  3. Use the serial number on the pass to guarantee your spot at the park and avoid disappointment:Make a Reservation Online or you can call 1-888-ONT-PARK (1-888-668-7275) – Open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Once you make your reservation be sure to bring the pass from the library and your printed or electronic copy of the confirmation email you receive to the park with you. For more information, visit the Ontario Parks blog.

Conservation family pass

CVC and TRCA logos

We offer a Family General Admission Pass to Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) parks, including Black Creek Pioneer 

Village and Kortright Centre. The pass covers admission for up to six individuals in one vehicle and includes parking in most cases. The loan period is seven days with no renewals.

Weekend Parking Reservations:

Library users who have checked out a CVC family pass can reserve parking at Island Lake and Terra Cotta Conservation Areas. Call the Visitor Services team at 1-800-367-0890 with the membership card in hand. CVC staff will make the parking reservation and then send a confirmation via email. You will need to bring this email to the park, either printed out or on your mobile device. Parking reservations will be available on weekends and holidays only.

Pick up a Family General Admission Pass for the Museum of Dufferin (MoD) at the Orangeville Public Library. The pass covers admission for two adults and up to four children. The loan period is seven days with no renewals. This pass is not valid for ticketed events or paid programs.

Jigsaw Puzzles

Spend an  hour or two relaxing with a jigsaw puzzle that you can borrow - our large selection means you will always be able to find a new challenge. Pair it with an audiobook and you have a delightful afternoon or evening's entertainment! Our puzzles range from 300 to 1000 pieces and feature a variety of images intended for family fun, especially the adults! You can find them on the top floor at our Mill St. Location. You can borrow two at a time for 4 weeks and you can renew if you aren't quite done when it's time to bring them back.

Health kits and DVDs

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health provides learning kits to borrow from the library. Perfect for teachers and group leaders, available for everyone in the community. Guide your students with fun, interactive displays, videos, and games. Topics include physical, nutritional, and sexual health.

Power meter

Borrow a Power meter to measure the electricity consumption of your household appliances. Plug the meter into a wall socket and then plug in your appliances to assess their efficiency. This is a joint initiative between Sustainable Orangeville and the Orangeville Public Library.

Light Therapy Lamp

Come visit us to use our light therapy lamp. The lamp is designed to mimic spring and summer light levels as a way to treat the "winter blues" or seasonal affective disorder (SAD). The lamp can be used for up to 30 minutes a day - instructions available upon request. You can drop by to use it or you can reserve a time slot.

Digital Radon Detector (Available Oct. 1 to Apr. 30)

Digital radon detector

Curious about what level of radon testing you should invest in for your home? Now you can borrow the Corentium Home digital radon detector from the library to give you an idea whether you should be testing with a conventional test or contacting a professional. Our units are available for a loan period of 6 weeks (October to April) and are intended to help you understand the level of radon in your home as a precursor to a long-term test.
