Get ready for a summer of reading fun that is out of this world! The TD Summer Reading Club is back and this year the theme is "To the Stars". Join us as we land on an undiscovered planet and gaze up at never-before-seen star constellations before catching a comet and letting it carry us to galaxy clusters far away.
Registration is free and open to children ages 0-12. Pick-up your activity notebook and pencil at either library location.
This fun reading program inspires children to develop a lifelong love of reading and helps prevent the summer literacy slide. There are lots of fun programs and activities for kids of all ages; Storytime, arts and crafts, games, tech and science activities, special guests and more! Check the Events Calendar for weekly program dates and times - programs start on July 2.
Blast Off into a Summer Adventure! This year’s featured story is ““The Darkest Dark” by Astronaut Chris Hadfield, illustrated by The Fan Brothers. Presented in partnership with the Orangeville BIA, families are invited to get outside and discover each new page of the book in the windows of downtown businesses. Start at the Mill Street Library and explore Downtown Orangeville to find and read the rest of the story. Maps available at the library and participating businesses.
Mark your calendar for the Touch a Truck TD Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, August 24, 2024 2 - 4 p.m. Celebrate a successful summer of reading at this fun-filled family Touch A Truck event! The Orangeville Public Library is partnering with the Town of Orangeville to bring a lineup of trucks, including a firetruck, ambulance, snowplow and more, for kids to explore. Meet the community helpers who drive these vehicles and learn all about what they do. This event will take place in the far side of the Alder Street Recreation Centre parking lot - 275 Alder Street. Drop in between 2 and 4 p.m. to take part. No registration required. At 3 p.m. Katie and Evelyn will announce our 2024 TD Summer Reading Club prize winners.
