Celebrate National Indigenous History Month in June. The Library offers lots of books and resources to learn about First Nations, Inuit, and Métis history, culture, and experiences. This month's Tales on the Trail story features Nibi's Water Song by Sunshine Tenasco
Nibi is the Anishinaabemowin word for water. In Nibi's Water Song , an Indigenous girl is on the search for clean water to drink. Nibi is thirsty, so thirsty her mouth is clucking. Her joyful determination to find water carries an optimistic message about working together to bring change.
Tales on the Trail brings physical activity and literacy together to build community, connect people, and inspire learning. It provides families with the opportunity to get outside to learn about nature and enjoy a fun reading activity. The storybook walk installation at Island Lake Conservation Area is located in the Natural Playground.
